Cattle
Drive
...working
the herd...riding for the brand
Dusty trails, reliable horses and
true
cowboys...
One
of the highlights in summer is our authentic
Cattle Drive.
Every spring and fall ranchers prepare their cattle to be moved to the
summer range. After an introductory day on
the ranch about 350 cows, calves and bulls are rounded up over two
days.
Together with the cowboys of the neighbor ranch, we drive the large
herd to
the first stage: an old historic cow
camp. The evenings are a very special time around the campfire
under the fantastic stars of the Chilcotin sky. It is still like it was
a hundred year ago and all the long -ago stories will be awakened
again...
The next morning after
a
classical hearty cowboy breakfast with eggs and bacon we travel to the
approximately 1600
meter high summer pasture in Big Creek Provincial Park. The Cattle Drive ends with the traditional
Roundup Dinner after having returned to the ranch. The riding
pace is usually slow and accommodations mostly quite basic in tents.
The adventure of being a cowboy,
the romance the the very special ambiance of this trip make it a
wonderful experience and everlasting memories.
